New Study Points to Mesothelioma Risk for Dentists from Asbestos Tape

A new study authored by Drs. Steven Markowitz of Queens College in New York and Jacqueline Moline of Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine reveals that dentists who made bridges or crowns from the 1930s-1970s may be at risk for pleural mesothelioma.

The report pointed that crysotile or "blue" asbestos was used to make dental tape heat resistant to better withstand the manufacturing of various dental products. The airborne dust from the tape leads to diagnoses of mesothelioma per year. To read the full study click here.
